The biggest thing doing AutoX is cone management. Gotta have how ever many people at the key spots where people run over cones. Plus, I guess for safety reasons its also good to have some people spread out safety just in case someone needs quick response to something...though, that isnt planned.

Need to do it like the real thing. If you plan to run, plan to do some work as well. Only fair.

Update: I'm in talks with the Buccaneer Region president to potentially allow us the use of their timing equipment. This is absolutely in the "talking" phase and nothing definite as of yet. Hopefully, we'll have access to their hardware and possibly, their AutoX location.

Otherwise, like Adam said, the biggest hurdle of an AutoX weekend is the worker/driver swap. Ordinarily, whomever drives, works the next heat and vice versa. This would necessitate us having 2 heats (meaning we'd need at least 5-6 trucks per heat = 10-12 trucks total racing......more would be better). Given a healthy participation, I'd push that we have a legitimate tech (nothing scrutinizing, just safety specific), paddock, and heat organization.

As soon as I hear back from the AutoX group, we'll know more.

I totally agree, that even with 10 trucks participating we need to setup a tech inspection, two heat running configuration, grid, paddock, and a drivers meeting to clue everyone in on how it's supposed to work. This is EASILY a 1/2 day worth of the event.

I think one of the downfalls of the organization at Nationals this past summer was fighting for attention with the drag strip. It's hard to get people to stop driving long enough to help out if there are other places to be driving your truck. Well that, and we also didn't do much planning before we got there :D :D
